SHORING SPECIALIST SCHOOL

The shoring specialist school is designed to increase the skills and knowledge of experienced rescuers who already possess some shoring abilities. The school is designed to assure that the students graduate with an in depth knowledge of how various types of buildings react in collapse situations, how loads are distributed before and after collapse, how to determine the proper shoring system application.

In depth shoring system design, function, and application will be taught. Students will be taught critical tool skills, system construction skills, and critical safety considerations.

Multiple shoring systems will be taught and will emphasize options for supporting horizontal, vertical, and diagonal loads along the exterior and interior perimeters, as well as within void spaces. These shoring variations will include split sole and solid sole rakers, vertical shores, horizontal shores, window/door shores, Tee head shores, laced post shores, cribbing systems, sloped floor shores, and tie back systems.

Management of the shoring function, which includes situation and resource assessment, developing the shoring plan, coordinating assignments and physical set up of the cutting station will be taught.

Students will receive significant hands-on experience. They will build all of the shoring systems multiple times while facing different shoring problems. Shoring problems will change and the difficulty will increase as the class progresses.

STUDENTS WILL BE FACED WITH SHORING PROBLEMS AND DIFFICULTIES THAT HAVE BEEN ENCOUNTERED DURING ACTUAL DISASTER SITE BUILDING COLLAPSES.

The Shoring Specialist School is a THREE day school.
