RESCUE SKILLS
The majority of rescue organizations will benefit from the Light-frame & Reinforced Masonry (Operations Level) Rescue Operations course. This is the course that prepares rescuers to apply rescue techniques at the "Main Street" type of collapse. This is the more common scenario they will be faced with such as the tornado-impacted house or the commercial store that suffers a gas explosion. The class is a combination of lecture and significant hands-on applications in the following areas:
- Collapse causes
- Hazard identification and control
- Safety requirements
- Command and control
- Management and coordination of resources
- Structural breaching, content breaching, and void space operations
- Structural element lifting applications, stabilization of loads
- Shoring and structural stabilization
- Patient packaging and removal
For the rescue teams who wish to be prepared to deal with the heavy weights, such as concrete and steel framed buildings, we offer the NFPA Technician level compliant Concrete Collapse Rescue Course.
The Concrete Collapse Rescue course is designed to be taken after completion of the Light frame & UN-reinforced Masonry course, however, it can be taken as a stand-alone course. The class is a combination of lecture, case study, and primarily hands on training in the following areas:
- Concrete construction methods
- Properties of concrete and reinforcing materials
- Concrete building collapse failure patterns
- Survivability profiling
- Tactical planning
- Rescue techniques
- Breaching techniques
- Controlled segmental lift out operations
- Relief cutting/stitch drilling
- Concrete sawing
- Void space breaching
- Void space heavy lifting
- Drilling/bolting/rigging & lifting
- Heavy and medium breakers/rotary drill operations
- Concrete boring equipment
- Support materials and operations
